Father's Day History

President Calvin Coolidge, in 1924, supported the idea of a national Father's Day. The National Father's Day Committee was formed in New York City in 1926. A Joint Resolution of Congress recognized the Father's day in 1956. Then in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day. President Richard Nixon signed the law, which finally made it permanent in 1972. LINK

I seem to be having a similar problem that many people have. I'm trying to load the Georgia Blue template and my sidebar shows up at the bottom of the page instead of side! Argh. Humph. %$I$%.

From the forums I read it seems you just need to add more entries and the side bar just poofs up on the side. So, I'm writing this entry. And I guess I'll post a picture along with it to take up more space.

If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it!!!

Tuesdays

Still learning this moveable type stuff - I'm on hour 5 of my book (page 90). It is telling me about formatting text. Here is some bolded text. This is dumb and easy b/c the buttons are right up there. Moving on. Italics. However, you should not underline often (ever) b/c your underlining could be mistaken for a link.

And, for my next trick, I will attempt to include a picture representative of how I used to feel on the first day of summer.

way to go chris!

My buddy Chris - who may be moving to Austin soon - just had an article published online at Relevant Magazine! I think there are a lot of objective reasons why its a good article, but I like it mostly because Chris wrote it. Its about the dark side of individualism versus the difficult goodness of iron-sharpening-iron in christian community and friendship. If you are frustrated with the difficulty of living with God's sinful yet redeemed people, consider the outcomes of isolation and take a gander at chris's article here.

slowly learning

I bought a book about moveable type... I had read it a few times at Barnes & Noble. I'm not sure it will do any good, but we'll see. One nice thing about it, for those that feel a little overwhelmed, is it breaks the content into 24 hour long segments. I'm reservedly optimistic.
